Red Velvet Wendy’s Latest Activity For SM Entertainment After Leaving The Company Shocks Fans

It has sparked mixed reactions.

Red Velvet’s Wendy has caught fans off guard with her latest activity as it involves SM Entertainment, the agency she officially parted ways with earlier this year.

Now signed with ASND — the same company managing fromis_9 —  her recent appearance quickly became a hot topic.

In a newly released video, Wendy promotes SM CLASSICS LIVE, SM Entertainment’s special orchestra concert set to take place in Seoul.

While she also took part in a similar concert earlier this year, that was during her final schedules as an SM artist. Many were surprised to see her still actively promoting the event despite no longer being under the label, leading to speculation that her departure from SM may have been on positive terms.

This, in turn, has sparked hope among fans for the possibility of a full Red Velvet comeback soon.

However, the announcement also stirred frustration among some fans when SM’s official X account tagged Wendy’s personal solo profile instead of Red Velvet’s group account. While some saw this as a snub, others argued it was likely a show of support for her solo career under her new management.

The situation has fueled ongoing interest in Wendy and Yeri’s ties to SM and the rest of the group since both members’ departures. Just recently, Yeri’s new agency drew criticism for blurring Irene’s face in a vlog where she congratulated Yeri on wrapping up filming for her K-Drama — a move that sparked intense speculation. Despite these incidents, the members continue to appear close, reassuring fans that their bond remains unchanged.

For now, fans remain curious to see how Wendy’s continued connection with SM will play out as they wait for any news on a full group comeback.
