Is Jinu Dead? “KPop Demon Hunters” Director Hints At Jinu’s True Fate And Sequel Possibilities
Spoiler Alert
Sony‘s KPop Demon Hunters has continued to be an outstanding global success, even earning a theater run with its popularity.

The film follows a K-Pop trio that double as demon hunters, taking on a new threat in the form of a demon boy band. Despite their differences, HUNTR/X leader Rumi and Saja Boys‘ Jinu find common ground, triggered by Rumi‘s secret demon heritage.
While the story has a happy ending with evil defeated, the fate of Jinu has been a sore spot, as he was seemingly destroyed while protecting Rumi.

However, in the film, when HUNTR/X slay demons on Earth, they simply return to the demon realm. This aspect has created questions about Jinu’s fate, as fans reflected on the romance they desired to happen between the two.

Maggie Kang, the film’s director, attended a press conference about the movie in Seoul on August 22.
During the press conference, she talked about several topics, including the film’s inspiration and possibilities for the future.

While there was no definite answer about a sequel, Kang did share that she wanted to work with trot and metal artists, presumably for a future film.
Nothing has been officially decided yet. I do have ideas, and I know that many people are waiting for it.
— Maggie Kang
When the question of why Jinu was “killed off” came up, Kang answered in a way that contradicted the thought without specifically giving anything away.

You could see it that way, but really, we don’t know. Don’t Korean audiences tend to like tragedies?
— Maggie Kang
Though this isn’t the definite answer people have wanted, it has given hope about Jinu’s possible return in the future!
