HYBE Boy Group’s Visuals Slammed With Scathing Reactions To “Luxury Brand” Photoshoot
A recent photoshoot featuring BOYNEXTDOOR has become the center of heated debate online. The group partnered with Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Japan, but the results left many Korean netizens unimpressed.

The viral post, shared on Pann, has already drawn more than 78,000 views and over 500 upvotes, sparking widespread criticism of the group’s looks in the new luxury brand campaign.

Some argued that their image didn’t fit the sleek and high-end vibe usually associated with YSL, while others went further, claiming the shoot lowered the brand’s status. In particular, the original post compared the group unfavorably to average men on the street, suggesting that even ordinary people with some styling might look better suited for the ad.

This is supposed to be a YSL ad? If you seriously just grabbed some random guy off the street, gave him plastic surgery and makeup, he’d probably look better than them.

Reactions were harsh, with many pointing out that the photos lacked the premium quality expected from a collaboration with a top-tier brand like Yves Saint Laurent.
Still, not every reaction was negative. A few defended the group, pointing out that regardless of opinions on visuals, being chosen by YSL Beauty Japan is already a major accomplishment.

- “Honestly, it’s true they don’t have visuals…”
- “They look more like Japanese host bar guys than luxury brand models.”
- “It doesn’t feel like a luxury brand ad at all, more like a road shop ad.”
- “At the end of the day, YSL Beauty chose BOYNEXTDOOR, so what can you do.”
- “Still, they’re more popular than your faves, so that’s enough.”
Despite the backlash, the shoot has undeniably drawn massive attention, whether for the right reasons or not.
