Cheerful Idol Sobs At A Concert After Fans Ignore Her, Boo Her Girl Group

The heartbreaking moment was caught on video.

For the first time in 14 years, a beloved girl group left the stage without performing their encore after fans made it very clear they didn’t want one.

JKT48 is an international sister group of the J-Pop group AKB48, based in Jakarta, Indonesia. As of August 18, the 14-year-old group has 56 current members. It also has many former members, including the Japanese idol-actress Nakagawa Haruka, who left the group in 2016. Although she is no longer a member, Haruka has continued to cheer on her group by attending their shows.

On July 26, Haruka attended JKT48’s Full House, an emotionally-charged concert that ended in silence and tears. As part of a planned protest, frustrated fans remained quiet during the group’s final performance, then began booing instead of shouting for an encore. The protest was reportedly aimed not at JKT48, but at JKT48’s management, JOT (JKT48 Operation Team).

Haruka, who was in the audience, tried to convince the crowd to cheer with her, shouting, “Everyone, let’s encore!” at the top of her lungs. The audience responded by ignoring and booing Haruka…

…who eventually broke down in tears while others comforted her.

JKT48 exited the stage without an encore or a final bow. Watch clips from the concert here:
