On September 10, Sunye uploaded a clip of Kirk’s wife speaking about him, accompanied by a Bible verse. Kirk, known for his right-wing stance and controversial remarks on race, gender, and politics, remains a divisive and controversial figure.

The decision to publicly honor him immediately drew criticism from Korean netizens, who questioned why a celebrity would openly pay tribute to such a figure.

Shortly after backlash spread, Sunye removed the Instagram story. However, the deletion only fueled more criticism, with many pointing out the inconsistency of honoring someone only to backtrack when faced with negative reactions.
