Big 3 Girl Group Idol Deletes Charlie Kirk Tribute Triggering Even More Extreme Backlash
Former Wonder Girls leader and vocalist Sunye has come under fire after sharing, and quickly deleting, a tribute post for American right-wing political activist Charlie Kirk.

On September 10, Sunye uploaded a clip of Kirk’s wife speaking about him, accompanied by a Bible verse. Kirk, known for his right-wing stance and controversial remarks on race, gender, and politics, remains a divisive and controversial figure.

The decision to publicly honor him immediately drew criticism from Korean netizens, who questioned why a celebrity would openly pay tribute to such a figure.

Shortly after backlash spread, Sunye removed the Instagram story. However, the deletion only fueled more criticism, with many pointing out the inconsistency of honoring someone only to backtrack when faced with negative reactions.

- It’s all about money. She needs to make money in Korea lol.
- Is she still considered a celebrity? No one even cares.
- Her Jesus carried the cross, but she can’t even keep up a story that disappears in 24 hours…
- If it was a genuine tribute, why not just leave it up? Why keep deleting?
- Isn’t she no longer an entertainer? Didn’t she retire to become a missionary?
- What’s with that religion… It just seems selfish and dumb. Doesn’t feel like conviction, only brainwashing.
