37-year-old Chinese actor Yu Menglong died on September 11 after suffering a fatal fall. Investigators have “ruled out any criminality” surrounding his death, but that has not stopped conspiracy theories from circulating. If anything, the police’s quickly reached conclusion has fuelled them.

Celebrities, legal experts, and netizens have raised alarm bells about the investigation, with some alleging that Yu was murdered. Netizens have presented alleged videos from the night of Yu’s death as “evidence” to support this.

Several celebrities, including Fan Shiqi and Song Yiren, have also been accused of being involved in Yu’s death. Yu reportedly attended a gathering with over 10 people at a friend’s home on the night he died.

Some rumors allege that Yu was beaten, sexually assaulted, and/or tortured before his death, partly because of one of the viral videos that was supposedly taken that night.

In that video, a young man alleged to be Yu is dragged across a room by his ankles.

However, the man’s “attackers” are wearing costumes…

…and he does not appear to be in distress.

Some netizens are now raising awareness about the video, which seems to have been taken at a horror-themed activity, such as an escape room or a haunted house.

Now everything is so mixed up, I know you all really want to see a video proving that Yu was tortured. However, seriously, who tortures someone and records it? 🙂 They wouldn’t film it.

The video below is one I saw going viral on Douyin [China’s TikTok] in the petition section, so I happened to come across it, it wasn’t something I searched for. On that account, there is only one fake video circulating online that got a lot of likes. This means people boosted the video’s engagement so that everyone would know it’s fake 🙏.

In addition to Yu’s colleagues, some netizens are also alleging that Yu’s agency may have been involved in his death.
