Kim Soo Hyun Reveals New Evidence To Refute Dating Allegations With Kim Sae Ron
Recently, controversy erupted after the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron claimed that she had been in a romantic relationship with actor Kim Soo Hyun and revealed alleged text messages between them from when Kim was still a minor.
Among the messages released previously were affectionate lines such as “Give me a kiss later,” and “Is this forbidden too?” The family asserted that these were messages sent by Kim Soo Hyun to Kim Sae Ron in 2015–2016, when she was 17 years old, implying an inappropriate relationship.
KSR: “You’ never wake up.”
KSH: “Yeah, I wouldn’t know, even if you kissed me.”KSR: “So you wouldn’t notice even if I did it a few times. Yay.”
KSH: “When can I hold you and fall asleep? I think I’d be able to sleep really well then.”
KSR: “Yeah, I’ll let you do that.”
However, on October 13, 2025, a report in Korea media suggested that strong evidence has since surfaced suggesting that the man who sent the messages was not Kim Soo Hyun, but a completely different individual.
On March 27, the family’s legal representative, Attorney Boo Ji Seok, and Kim Sae Ui, head of the Garo Sero Research Institute, held a press conference at Space Share Gangnam Center in Seoul. They disclosed portions of text conversations that the late Kim Sae Ron had allegedly exchanged with the unnamed man in June 2016.
In the texts dated June 22–28, 2016, the man appeared affectionate and forward, writing the above messages and more. Attorney Boo claimed this man was actor Kim Soo Hyun.
If they weren’t dating, what kind of relationship involves saying things like ‘I want to hold you while sleeping’? Kim Sae Ron was only 17 at the time.
Then, Kim Sae Ui added that the logs had been edited to remove personal details, but were not fabricated. However, according to a June 2016 schedule obtained by Money Today, Kim Soo Hyun was completely tied up filming the movie “Real.”
He filmed on 18 days that month — including June 22, 25, and 26, the exact days when the messages were allegedly sent. Filming took place at Yeongjongdo, Incheon, starting at 8 am. and finishing between 8 pm. and 10 pm. As the film’s lead actor appearing in nearly every scene, Kim Soo Hyun arrived early and left late each day.
The commute from his home in Seongsu-dong, Seoul to the Yeongjongdo set took two hours each way, meaning he would leave home by 6 a.m. and return around midnight. Given this schedule, it would have been nearly impossible for him to maintain the kind of leisurely texting or dating pattern described.
One production staff member gave a statement to Money Today.
“Kim Soo Hyun was unbelievably busy at that time. He was shooting intense action scenes every day, often drenched in water. He’d come home, collapse into bed, and wake up before dawn to head back to the set. There was absolutely no time to be waiting around for anyone.”
Kim Soo Hyun’s attorney continues to strongly refuted the claims.
“There is nothing in the messages that identifies the man as Kim Soo Hyun. In fact, the conversation is suspiciously vague — the man never mentions what he’s doing or where he is. This suggests that Garo Sero Research Institute and Attorney Boo deliberately hid the sender’s actual schedule or activities. The bereaved family knows who the real sender was.”
