Female Idol Announces Her Retirement, Exit From Popular Girl Group

Her idol days are over.

After nearly 10 years with her group, an idol has decided to begin the next chapter of her life.

Mizuta Shiori is a member of the popular Japanese idol girl group NMB48. She joined the group on June 28, 2016, and has been entertaining fans ever since. Like many Japanese girl groups, NMB48 has a system where current members graduate and new members join.

Shiori announced her graduation on October 25, during the group’s Seishun! Koi no Destination concert. “I, Mizuta Shiori, will be graduating from NMB48,” she told the audience. “When I think about these past nine and a half years, it feels like such a long time, but it’s gone by so fast. I’ve given everything I have — and I’ve got no regrets.”

The idol thanked her fans for supporting her through thick and thin before dropping another bombshell. She will be leaving the entertainment industry.

Every moment, happy or sad, became a treasure. Even when I made mistakes or worried everyone, you all stayed with me. Because of that, I can stand here now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Shiori didn’t announce her future plans at the concert, but she made it clear that she’s leaving on a high note. “Let’s make the rest of my idol life as beautiful and wild as ever,” she said, “idol and fan, let’s go all out till the very end!”
