eaJ himself has been very vocal about his support for Palestine, especially for the people of Gaza, who have been subjected to genocidal conditions by Israel.

However, recently, with the horrifying atrocities in Sudan finally making it to mainstream news, eaJ’s social media account was spammed with comments to speak up about Sudan as well. The idol responded to the comments gracefully, admitting that he has been learning more about Sudan recently and posting accordingly. However, noting that the comments on his profile mostly came from fan accounts associated with BTS, he also made a gentle suggestion that fans should encourage their favorite K-Pop artists to speak up as well.

He followed up the post by saying that standard K-Pop contracts, as per his knowledge, could not legally bind artists to not practice their freedom of speech. In fact, a contract seeking to repress an artist’s freedom of speech would be considered illegal in South Korea.

Many appreciated eaJ for offering his perspective and clarification as an industry insider, prompting some fan accounts to even call out their respective artists.

A significant number of K-Pop fans have long tried to reach out to artists and discourage them from associating with brands and individuals who have been involved in such crimes against humanity for the past few years. However, very few of their efforts have proven to be fruitful. In the case of Palestine in particular, only a handful of idols, including eaJ, have spoken up. You can read more about the other here:
