Kim Sae Ron’s Family Protests Against Kim Soo Hyun Over Cancellation Of TV Broadcast

Due to the recent cancellation of Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun’s episode on the SBS program, Curious Stories Y, Kim Sae Ron’s family has strongly protested against Kim Soo Hyun’s side.
On November 1, attorney Bu Ji Seok, representing Kim Sae Ron’s family, criticized Kim Soo Hyun’s attorney, “During the show’s coverage, they changed their positions and are now accusing the family of fabricating the story.”
The family specifically raised issues with the production process of the program.
They claimed, “An SBS program suddenly requested an interview regarding the case on Saturday, November 8. However, it turned out that Kim Soo Hyun had already been interviewed first, and the interview request only came when preparations for the broadcast were finalized.”
At the time, the broadcast was scheduled for November 14, and the bereaved family had been advised by authorities to refrain from contacting the media. Regardless, they agreed to interview on November 10.
The bereaved family revealed they had provided some evidence proving that Kim Sae Ron dated Kim Soo Hyun when she was a minor and requested that the broadcast be covered impartially.
However, they claimed that two days before the broadcast, they were notified that the episode would be canceled.
In particular, they strongly criticized the response from Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer.
The opposing lawyer unilaterally used threatening media tactics, such as threatening civil and criminal action or grounds for arrest if the information was released.

To this, Kim Soo Hyun’s attorney replied, “We only requested caution due to concerns about additional crimes and secondary harm; we never intended to block the broadcast. We also stated that we will not object to the broadcast if the rebuttals are adequately reflected.”
With the situation becoming more serious, SBS also released an official statement.
We indeed researched the Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun case. After our research and internal discussions, we decided not to air it. Both sides have valid opinions, and we felt there was no point in reconstructing the story on air; therefore, we deemed it difficult to air.

They also emphasized that the decision on whether to air the show after researching was a standard process and that this incident wasn’t the only one to be canceled.
Meanwhile, both sides are currently engaged in a full-scale battle to determine the truth.
