Newlywed Idol-Actress Divulges On What It Is Like To Work After Marriage
An idol-actress has shared her thoughts on starring in her first project after marriage.
On the morning of the 10th, MBC held a production press conference for the new daily drama First Man at its Sangam-dong headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Attending were the main cast members Ham Eunjung, Yoon Sun Woo, Oh Hyun Kyung, Park Geon Il, Kim Min Seol, Jung Chan, Lee Jae Hwang, along with PD Kang Tae Heum. Under the moderation of announcer Seo In, they discussed the drama.
First Man is a story depicting a deadly battle between a woman who lives someone else’s life for revenge and another woman who steals someone else’s life for her own desires.
This project is particularly anticipated as actress Ham Eunjung, part of the girl group T-ARA, takes on dual roles for the first time since her debut. She will portray twin sisters with completely opposite lives: an incredibly resourceful older sister and a younger sister born into a wealthy family. This promises to showcase a wider range of her acting skills, raising expectations.
Moreover, Ham Eunjung recently attracted much attention for marrying film director Kim Byung Woo. The couple’s simultaneous active careers after marriage have drawn interest.
Interestingly, co-star Yoon Sun Woo also made headlines after marrying actress Kim Ga Eun following a 10-year relationship. Regarding working with him, Ham Eunjung said, “From the reading sessions, we had great chemistry. When acting, I was able to focus solely on my performance, to the extent that the thought of marriage didn’t enter my mind.” She added with a smile, “Coincidentally, we both have personal milestones recently, so I think this show will leave a strong impression on viewers. It ironically helps me stay more focused.”
She also spoke about the challenge of playing two roles for the first time: “It was a big burden at first. I felt pressure about how to differentiate the characters. But with the help of the writer and director, I was able to find the right approach during readings.” She emphasized, “Thanks to that, filming began smoothly. I aimed to present the characters visually distinct and to portray their emotional core differently.”
Regarding advice from her husband, director Kim Byung Woo, Ham Eunjung shared, “We don’t usually talk about work, but since I’m doing consecutive daily dramas this time, he was concerned about my stamina. We even decided to take herbal medicine together,” she laughed.
First Man is set to premiere on Monday the 15th at 7:05pm KST, following the current broadcast of The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun.
