“Single’s Inferno” Star Cha Hyun Seung Shares Tremendous News On His Battle With Leukemia
Dancer-turned-actor Cha Hyun Seung has finally overcome leukemia and received a clean bill of health. Throughout his battle, he kept himself going with his trademark positive energy, saying “I will endure,” and now, sharing the joyful news, he has deeply inspired many people.
On the 22nd, a video was on Cha Hyun Seung’s YouTube channel. As shown in the video, while visiting the hospital to hear the results of his bone marrow test, he expressed his anxious feelings, saying, “I think the results will be good, but I’m still nervous. There’s no way around it.”
Soon after, the doctor in the consultation room said, “You’re completely and successfully cured,” and Cha Hyun Seung smiled brightly, saying, “Hearing that clearly feels amazing. I’m so happy.” The medical staff advised, “Now you can do whatever you want in life, just avoid anything bad for your body,” and scheduled a follow-up exam three months later.
Back at home, Cha Hyun Seung shared his overwhelming feelings, saying, “I’ve come home after being declared cured. I can’t believe it; I feel so great. I first went to the hospital around May, and now it’s just before Christmas. It feels like I’ve been given a second life as a Christmas gift.”
Behind the cure, there were difficult times. After his bone marrow test, Cha Hyun Seung revealed, “It was the most painful test ever. When the anesthesia wore off, the pain was unbearable, and even my leg became numb.” During chemotherapy, he repeatedly had to be re-admitted due to headaches, nausea, chills, and low blood counts. He also showed the reality of his battle by sharing footage of capillaries bursting due to low platelet counts and receiving blood transfusions without hiding the harsh reality.
Still, through social media and YouTube, he consistently shared ultra-positive messages like “This chemo is the hardest yet, but I’ll endure,” and “Little by little, slowly, I’ll beat this to the end.” He joked about his shaved head, saying, “Being bald is so comfortable,” and comforted himself with comments like, “At first, this path was scary, but now I’ve begun to trust myself.”
Along with the news of his cure, Cha Hyun Seung opened up about his inner feelings during the illness, saying, “My mind was more exhausted than my body. I wondered why something like this was happening to me.” He added a message of encouragement for those still fighting: “Rather than telling them ‘You must definitely win,’ I want to say, ‘This too shall pass,’ to face it calmly. You just mustn’t give up.”
Cha Hyun Seung first became known as a dancer for Sunmi and gained recognition through appearances on Netflix’s Single’s Inferno, Physical: 100, and other shows. Recently, he has expanded his career into acting with roles in dramas. After publicly revealing his battle with leukemia, he received much support and is now preparing new beginnings with rehabilitation and audition challenges. He expressed his determination, saying, “I will share my rehabilitation process and new challenges on video.”
His ultra-positive determination to “endure” has ultimately led to a full recovery. Having passed through the long tunnel of leukemia, Cha Hyun Seung now embraces his “second life.” Expectations and support continue to grow for his new start and return to broadcasting and acting activities.
