Never Give Up: Idol Finally Will Debut After 6 Survival Shows
The route to becoming an idol can take many years for some, sometimes involving unexpected detours, to finally reach that goal. For some, it is an extended training period, such as TWICE’s Jihyo, who was a trainee for 10 years.

Recently, a male trainee just confirmed his debut after several years of appearing on survival shows.
In 2019, the Chinese survival show Youth With You, the second season of Idol Producer, aired, introducing 100 trainees vying for a debut.
Among them was Yichen, a trainee under China Music, who ultimately was eliminated in the first round of eliminations. After this, Yichen, now under Yuehua Entertainment, participated in the label’s in-house survival show What’s Your Name , which saw delays.

In 2023, he was announced to be participating in Asia Super Young, but this version of the show was scrapped. After this, the next time he was spotted was for Project 7, where he narrowly missed debuting in Close Your Eyes.

He was next eliminated from Boys II Planet this year, marking his fifth survival show, and was announced for Planet C: Home Race, a spin-off featuring Chinese trainees from B2P. On December 27, the final line-up for MODYSSEY was revealed, with Yichen ranking 6th overall and making it into the group.

Yichen’s journey certainly is an inspirational one!
