INFINITE’s Sunggyu Successfully Completes Musical “Death Note”
INFINITE member Kim Sunggyu successfully concluded the musical Death Note.
On the 4th, Sunggyu wrapped up his roughly three-month run of Death Note at the D Cube Link Art Center in Seoul.
He played the role of the brilliant detective L, who opposes Light, in Death Note. Having been consistently mentioned in virtual casting lists due to his high likeness to L, news of his casting sparked great excitement among musical fans.
Amid fans’ passionate anticipation, Sunggyu took the stage with intense smoky makeup, messy hair, and a loose white T-shirt, perfectly embodying L’s look and astonishing the audience with his uncanny resemblance.
With a hunched posture and bare feet, he moved across the stage like a fish in water, reenacting scenes as if stepping right out of the original work. Equipped with a piercing gaze that seemed to see through everything, he portrayed L’s sharp intellect and deductive skills with multi-dimensional acting, demonstrating a profound interpretation of both the character and the production.
After the final performance of Death Note amid enthusiastic cheers, Sunggyu shared through his agency Billions, “Death Note is truly a precious work to me. The excitement and countless thoughts I felt when I first encountered L are still vivid. I intensely focused on how to present my own version of L on stage every night, and thanks to the passionate support and love from everyone, I was able to continue performing happily.”
He added, “I am grateful to the audience who believed in and cheered for me, as well as to the fellow actors and staff who sweated alongside me for the best stage. It was because of you all that Kim Sunggyu’s L could be completed. I sincerely thank everyone who joined this journey once again and will never forget your love. I will greet you with even better performances in the future,” heightening expectations for his upcoming activities.
