Netflix Actress’s “Cringe” Acting Draws Scathing Criticism
Recently, Netflix announced the lead star for a remake of Girl From Nowhere, a popular 2018 Thai series about a vengeful immortal entity who takes the form of a high school girl.

Girl From Nowhere has two seasons, both starring “Kitty” Chicha Amatayakul as Nanno.

Rather than releasing a Season 3, Netflix will pivot to create a reboot called Girl From Nowhere: The Reset, which will feature Thai-British actress “Becky” Rebecca Armstrong as an amnesiac version of Nanno.

When the news dropped on January 14, it was met with mixed reactions from netizens who doubted Becky’s ability to play Nanno. She is best known for her GL (Girls’ Love) series, including Gap.

Now, after getting a sneak peek at Becky’s acting as Nanno, criticism has continued to grow. On January 14, Vogue Thailand released a YouTube video titled One Day With Becky.

Throughout the video, Becky slipped into her psychopathic character by changing her demeanor and saying “weird” things that Nanno might say.

Many fans expressed support for Becky in the video’s comment section…

…but on X (Twitter), other netizens described her acting as “cringe”. One claimed that “most Thais” dislike Becky’s acting but can’t criticize it without being “attacked” by GL fans. Some would have preferred to see a different Thai actress cast in the role.
Are we watching the same thing? Cause honestly, even without knowing her, just by seeing the this, we can’t feel any psycho, creep out or scary feeling? Just straight up cringe. Thais, you can do better or is it that thais just love mid acting of half thais? Genuine question https://t.co/BPQPWFi4DH

I’m thai and i do feel cringe about this too. Some of us don’t like her facial expressions 😵💫 i miss the old Nanno

I feel most Thais don’t like this casting as well & the only people who do are her fanbase. But Thais can’t really complain because GL stans are intense and will attack you for voicing your opinion.

imo girl from nowhere goes international so if they were going to recast would it not have been an opportunity for them to put another thai actress on the global stage as opposed to this mixed woman who cannot act for her life, what strings did she pull to get this role

i’m sorry but her sweet & soft tiny voice isn’t made for this role 😭.. there’s so many actresses that would be perfect for this role.. and that’s not a hate towards becky, it just doesn’t feel right

Despite the growing criticism, other netizens are waiting to pass judgement until they see Becky’s performance in the series, which will premiere on March 7.
Everyone will compare her to the original, Kitty. That’s a big shoes to fill, and so far she’s failed to match Kitty’s sinister side 🫣
But may give her chance , the series has not even air yet 🤷🏻♀️— CulesxSone (@CulesxSone) January 15, 2026
I think Mable suits the role of Nanno more, based on her acting in ClaireBell, idkkk she has this vibe 🤷♀️. But let’s give Becky a chance guys. 🫶 pic.twitter.com/d1edfOTZHd

lmao it’s called “THE RESET” for a reason and t’was explain it’s in another universe. also, the directors specifically chose her because of her talent. the show hasn’t been released yet and you’re already spewing words.
and excuse me, mid-acting? have you watched her works?
