When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, some highly anticipated new series (and older ones) fell flat for viewers in January 2026. Here are 5 K-Dramas viewers couldn’t finish watching.
1. Can This Love Be Translated?
Netflix’s Can This Love Be Translated? follows a famous celebrity and her interpreter as they travel around the world filming a television show. Will true love transcend language barriers, or will the heart be lost in translation?
Some viewers who dropped this highly anticipated new series found some parts of the plot implausible and didn’t like how a character’s “mental issues” were portrayed.

2. Idol I
This ENA mystery-comedy-romance series follows a woman who is a lawyer by day and a K-Pop fan by night. She’s known for taking on strange cases, but when her K-Pop bias becomes involved in a murder case, she has to set aside her fangirl feelings to uncover the truth.
The female lead’s secret fangirl love for the main lead didn’t sit well with some viewers.

Spring Fever premiered on January 5 on tvN. This romance tells the story of an emotionally scarred teacher who relocates to a rural town, hoping for a fresh start. There she meets a CEO whose tough appearance hides a heart of gold.

4. Cashero
Action meets drama and fantasy in Cashero, the story of a civil servant who has extraordinary superhuman strength. However, his strength fluctuates depending on the amount of cash he has on him. He bands together with his practical girlfriend, and two other superheroes with unusual powers to protect the world from villains.
For some viewers, Cashero‘s concept was intriguing but the execution fell flat.

5. Nevertheless
Unlike the other K-Dramas on this list, Nevertheless was released in 2021. This webtoon-based K-drama follows two art students in a “friends-with-benefits” relationship that’s full of heartache, mixed signals, and passion.
Over the years, the relationship between Nevertheless’s leads has often been named as one of K-Drama’s “unhealthiest” relationships. Some viewers just can’t stand watching the “toxic boyfriend” male lead.
