Park Na Rae’s Home Burglar Receives Sentence At Second Trial
A man in his 30s who stole valuables worth tens of millions of won from broadcaster Park Na Rae’s home was sentenced to prison again in the second trial.
The Seoul Western District Court Criminal Appeal Division 2-1 ruled on the 5th to sentence Jeong, who was charged with theft and nighttime residential intrusion, to two years in prison, the same as the first trial, according to Yonhap News.
The court stated, “Considering that the crime was committed during a probation period and there have been no significant changes in circumstances compared to the first trial, it is difficult to see the original sentence as outside a reasonable range.”
Jeong was prosecuted for breaking into Park’s house in Yongsan District in April last year and stealing valuables worth tens of millions of won before fleeing. He also tried to sell the stolen items.
In the first trial in September last year, the court sentenced him to two years in prison, noting that although the defendant admitted the charges and returned the stolen items to the victim, he had prior similar convictions, and the stolen property was high-priced.
