Fans finally learned the story behind aespa Karina’s famous yodel live broadcast from 2024, and it has sparked unexpected controversy.

In a recent interview, the aespa star revealed that the live broadcast was part of a playful “punishment” given to her after their concert.

During the event, staff voted for the member who made the biggest impact that day. Karina received the fewest votes, so she had to complete a task: start a live broadcast and sing a yodel song from her hotel room or dorm, then end it without any explanation.

She said this is the first time she has shared the story and that her fellow members might be upset if they find out, since it was meant to be kept secret.

The story has sparked massively divided reactions, while many were happy to finally know the context behind the hilarious yodel live, others didn’t look kindly upon the SM Entertainment staff.

Karina fans are now insisting that the story proves the idol is not favored by aespa’s staff members at all.

Some even went as far as to claim that this has now become a pattern, not an isolated incident.

So it’s not just a myth after all. It’s a bit painful to hear, but not surprising considering how Karina always got the bare minimum during previous concerts. Meanwhile, at other events or shows, she always receives praise from staff and colleagues. Well… maybe some SM staff are just a little blind, yeah.
