Behind BTS’s Secret Rehearsals For Their Historic Gwanghwamun Concert

Behind the spectacular stage of BTS COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG held at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul was a secret rehearsal conducted under strict security.

According to a report by Chosun Ilbo on the 23rd, Yoo Ji Sook, artistic director of the National Gugak Center’s Folk Music Orchestra, said about the preparation process, “The night before the performance, during a controlled time at Gwanghwamun Square, we turned off all the sound systems and the entire BTS and performance team wore in-ear monitors to conduct the rehearsal.

They also added, “On the day of the performance, starting 30 minutes before the stage, we waited with BTS behind Gwanghwamun Square, and the members continued practicing without rest,” remarking, “It was pitiful that RM was still on crutches right before going on stage.

Moreover, they recalled, “Before going on stage, Jungkook personally thanked the performance team by saying, ‘Thank you,’ which left a strong impression.

Meanwhile, BTS released their fifth full-length album ARIRANG on the 20th. This marks their first full-group comeback in about three years and nine months since the anthology album Proof released in June 2022. The members held BTS COMEBACK LIVE: ARIRANG at Gwanghwamun Square on the 21st and unveiled the new songs, including the title track “Swim,” for the first time.
