Popular Actress Embroiled In Abuse Controversy, Triggers Massive Backlash
On March 25, actress Lee Hye Young became embroiled in an animal abuse controversy after posting a video of her dog with makeup on its face.
The video was uploaded to her Instagram as she shared her daily life with her dog. In the video, the dog’s face is covered in makeup that looks more like scribbles than makeup.
Although she explained that she was having fun with her dog, the comment section was filled with responses labeling it “animal abuse.”

Many social media users pointed out that hitting was not the only form of abuse and that using makeup made for humans can cause problems for dogs.
As a result, netizens were furious and agreed she should be reported for abuse.

Lee Hye Young quietly deleted the post without any specific apology or explanation. Up to date, she has not received any statement regarding the controversy.
