BTS’s V Sparks Baffling Debate About His Family Background

The previous “rumors” are being questioned.

As candid as the BTS members are with fans about their lives, to their credit, they have kept most of their family life private even after spending a decade in the public eye. However, there are some surface-level facts that ARMYs have always known about their backgrounds. In the case of V, it is widely known that he spent his childhood with his grandparents, who were rumored to be farmers.

This longstanding perception about V’s family background unexpectedly became the topic of a heated debate recently after he and RM appeared on the popular comedy YouTube channel, BDNS.

During the episode, V shared some exclusive details about his family, particularly his sister. He humorously recalled how his younger sister enjoyed being pampered with name-brand clothes when they were young because she was the only daughter in the extended family, while he had to settle for knock-offs. “I never had a problem with it,” the BTS member explained, “but seeing her nice stuff made me feel bad about my clothes.”

While most fans were surprised by the fact that V mentioned his sister on camera, something he has never done before, the story also sparked some unexpected analysis about his family background. In particular, many opined that the story challenged the long-held notion that the idol came from a poor family.

However, some fans also called out some of these posts, pointing out their problematic tone.

Meanwhile, V’s fellow member J-Hope also recently became the center of a heated discourse on social media following a YouTube appearance. Read more:
