A popular Korean actor directly mentioned rumors about him being gay.
On the April 9 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s Problem Child In House, K.Will and Ahn Jae Hyun appeared.
Regarding how he became close with Ahn Jae Hyun, K.Will said, “Among my songs, there’s one called ‘Please Don’t…’ Jae Hyun and Seo In Guk appeared in the music video for that song. At that time, Jae Hyun was preparing to start acting and had just begun variety shows. Appearing in my music video became somewhat of a hot topic.”
Joo Woo Jae said, “This music video has 85 million views. It’s been watched a lot overseas too.” When Kim Sook and Hong Jin Kyung said they hadn’t seen the music video, K.Will said, “If someone hasn’t seen it, I say congratulations. They still have one guaranteed fun thing left in life,” and they watched the video together.
Joo Woo Jae asked Ahn Jae Hyun, “When you were first cast for the music video, did you know what the story was about?” Ahn Jae Hyun replied, “I had no idea. At the end while filming, In Guk was riding straight ahead beside me. I thought he was playing a ghost. That was the big picture the director and senior had in mind.”
Through this music video, Seo In Guk and Ahn Jae Hyun earned the nickname “World Gay.” After becoming more recognized through K.Will’s music video, Ahn Jae Hyun said, “Whenever I do something with hyung, it goes well. Like My Love from the Star and The Beauty Inside — hyung sang all the OSTs. Everything did well.”
Ahn Jae Hyun also revealed that even before earning the nickname “World Gay,” there were rumors about him being gay in the modeling industry. He explained, “In the modeling market, I often handled both menswear and womenswear. When you do that well, rumors start to spread. That was the point where I realized, ‘I’m really doing well.’” To this, Joo Woo Jae added, “That’s inevitable. When there’s a women’s fashion show, 2 to 3 male models stand too. You were always among them.”
When asked how much he weighed when he was really skinny, Ahn Jae Hyun answered, “When I was really thin during my modeling days (at 186cm) I weighed 64kg, and during collection seasons, 60kg. When I lost that much weight, my hands would shake as I came home because I hadn’t eaten much.”
K.Will lamented, “Why did you not eat until your hands shake?” but Hong Jin Kyung defended the model junior Ahn Jae Hyun, saying, “For shows, you have to be as thin as a sheet of paper to look good on stage and to highlight the clothing’s fit.”
