BIGBANG’s G-Dragon Publicly Supports ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo Amid Tax Evasion Scandal
Group BIGBANG’s G-Dragon publicly supported ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo, who faced difficulties over tax issues.
G-Dragon recently liked Cha Eunwoo’s apology post regarding his tax issue. Previously, Lee Joo Young, a fourth-generation influencer from the Daelim Group, also liked the post, drawing attention, and with G-Dragon joining the likes, the interest has increased.

G-Dragon and Cha Eunwoo share a close friendship. In 2024, they revealed a four-shot photo booth picture together, and last year, they appeared on the cultural stage at the APEC summit welcome dinner. At the time, G-Dragon, wearing a traditional hat, gave a celebratory performance that received great applause, while Cha Eunwoo unusually served as the MC despite being in the military.
Meanwhile, Cha Eunwoo recently paid taxes amounting to around ₩13.0 billion KRW (about $8.76 million USD) after a thorough tax investigation by the National Tax Service.
On the 8th, he stated, “I respect the procedures and results of the National Tax Service, and to prevent further confusion, I have paid all related taxes. I will also sincerely comply with the remaining procedures.” He apologized, saying, “During a period of many changes and confusion in my activities, I established a corporation to prepare for more stable continuation of my career, but looking back, there were parts I did not sufficiently consider, and I believe the responsibility lies with me, not my family or company. This incident has made me truly reflect on myself.”
His agency, Fantagio, explained, “Some of the paid amount will be adjusted following the National Tax Service’s refund procedures. According to verification through an accounting firm, the actual final burden is around ₩13.0 billion KRW (about $8.76 million USD). After paying all personal income taxes, the overlap of corporate tax and value-added tax previously paid has resulted in a refund process.”
