The styling choices are being questioned.

HYBE has been caught in serious allegations of deliberately styling female idols in an infantilizing manner after announcing one of its girl groups’ new comebacks.

The girl group in question, ILLIT, recently teased its upcoming mini album, MAMIHLAPINATAPAI, by releasing a concept film and photos for the “It’s Me” version of the record.

In one of the concept photos, the group’s member Moka was seen sporting an edgy look with short, pixie-cut hair. While this new visual earned her high praise from fans, many were left weirded out by her super-short pants.

Moka was seen wearing a pair of white bloomer shorts in the photo, contrasted by a white veil on her head. This styling choice raised many eyebrows as people felt that it was deliberately chosen to evoke images of a diaper. Accusation of HYBE “pedobaiting” thus followed.

Some also brought up a previous styling that appeared similar. This one, featuring Iroha, was during the “Magnetic” era. Many fans had expressed their discomfort with her wearing shorts resembling diapers underneath her skirt.

However, fans pushed back against these claims, arguing that these were simply bloomer shorts, and while they could be unflattering, they were not deliberately chosen to appeal to any problematic gaze.
