Report Exposes Top Idol-Actor’s Expensive “Secret”

Wang Yibo is a popular Chinese actor, idol, motorcycle racer, and member of the South Korean-Chinese boy group UNIQ. He’s best known for his roles in television series such as Love Actually, Being a Hero, and War of Faith. In 2021, Wang ranked 2nd on the Forbes China Celebrity 100, an annual list that ranks China’s most influential celebrities.

The 2025 annual report released by the Han Hong Charity Foundation revealed that the organization generated more than 782 million yuan (about $115 million USD) in revenue during the year, with over 291 million yuan (about $42 million USD) directed toward disaster relief, emergency healthcare, reconstruction efforts, and medical programs in underserved communities.

Among the celebrities listed as donors, Wang Yibo has drawn particular attention after it was revealed he quietly donated 2 million yuan (about $294,000 USD). The contribution only became public because of the report. Fellow celebs JJ Lin and Wilber Pan also donated 2 million yuan. Other contributors included Jackson Yee, Tan Songyun, Chen He, Li Xian, Liu Yuxin, Dylan Wang, Xue Zhiqian, and Zhang Bichen.

The report reignited online discussions about Wang Yibo’s low-key philanthropy; many of his donations (which have reportedly exceeded 10 million yuan (about $1.4 million USD)) only became known through official reports like the foundation’s.

In the past, Wang donated to the Gansu earthquake recovery, flood relief efforts in Henan, aid following the Hong Kong Tai Po fire, and various education and environmental initiatives. During the Henan floods, reports claimed he not only donated financially but also travelled to affected areas to help with relief work in person.
