MEOVV recently made a comeback, with the title track “DDI RO RI.”

It already sparked major criticism from netizens, with many hitting back at THE BLACK LABEL‘s Teddy.

Yet, the comeback has gotten into even more controversy after a netizen shared that MEOVV had not shared any credits for the songs on their highlight medley, which is a common practice. They added that upon looking at the credits on Spotify, two of the tracks featured Dr. Luke.

Dr. Luke is an American producer known for working with many A-list musicians. In 2014, American musician Kesha (also known as Ke$ha) officially sued producer Dr. Luke to break her contract, claiming the producer had repeatedly drugged her, had sexual contact with her, with and without her consent, and controlled her music career to her detriment.

The inclusion of such a problematic figure sparked major backlash.

It also raised a debate about the constant use of Dr. Luke, especially by artists from YG Entertainment and THE BLACK LABEL.

Why is Dr. Luke suddenly in the credits of all new THE BLACK LABEL releases?

He is a big league producer it seems so weird for him to tie himself to a midsize K-pop label to the point of appearing in the majority of credits like an in-house producer.

I guess he is friends with Teddy but at this point Teddy must really like him to keep working with him despite the backlash. It honestly seems like he needed a new lane for his career after the western industry turned it on him (and for a good reason) and Teddy offered to give him exactly that.

It’s disappointing to see that K-pop of all things is the place that allows him to keep working no matter his controversies just because fans will support any music their faves put out…

I wonder if he signed some kind of a deal with TBL or if his friendship with Teddy really runs so deep he is willing to risk his artist’s reputation over it.

It raised a lot of anger and disappointment.
