AleXa, known to many for her time on Produce 48 and for winning the American Song Contest, left her agency last year, beginning a new journey as an artist. Her first independent release, “Vital Check,” was released in April 2025, and her track “Tongue Tied” was released for the Swedish song contest Melodifestivalen 2026 in February 2026.

Recently, the idol has begun teasing her next release, titled “UMAMI,” including a peek at the choreography.

The video was reposted on an account that shares updates for underrated artists, where netizens chimed in. Many expressed negative thoughts over the track preview, with the clip reaching over 2.1 million views.

Shortly after, AleXa addressed the negative comments herself, saying that not everyone had to like the song, and that no one was forcing them to listen. She also addressed claims of her “copying” other artists, sharing where her inspiration came from.
