5 Mysterious Scandals That Remain A Mystery To This Day

These mysteries may never be revealed after all.

So many scandals catch the attention of readers around the world, but many fail to quench the readers’ curiosity with a clear answer. Here are 5 mysterious scandals that still remain a mystery to this day.

1. Jay Park‘s departure from JYP Entertainment

It all began in 2009 when people found out about Jay Park’s negative comments about Koreans on Myspace during his trainee period back in 2005. He posted comments saying things like Koreans were “stupid” or “gay”, and truly offended the Korean fans. Both JYP Entertainment and Jay Park responded to the scandal with an official apology in September 2009.

Jay Park was then sent back to the states to take some time to self-reflect. Within a few months, he was offered by JYP the opportunity to return to Korea and join 2PM for their next album and resume activities as part of the group. Everything was all set to go until Jay Park confessed to the company of his wrongdoing during his stay in the states.

After hearing about the singer’s private life, all 2PM members were said to have agreed that it would be difficult to resume group activities with Jay Park. Soon after, the singer’s contract with the agency was terminated and the two went their separate ways. With an official apology from Jay Park to JYP Entertainment, they have mutually agreed to keep his misconduct a secret, and just what it was is still a mystery to this day.

Junyoung posted a message on his Twitter criticizing the CEO of Star Empire (his agency). In his post, he pleaded the media to list his story on the search engine for all to see. He then stated that he would reveal information about the CEO and agency as well. The issue causing the rift between Junyoung seems to have been related to unreceived pay as he had previously posted regarding the issue. The incident came to an end with an official apology from Junyoung through SNS and a set of compromises between the star and agency. Fans believe, however, that the messages on his SNS accounts may have been illicitly produced by his agency, but no one knows for sure.

3. Jessica‘s departure from Girls’ Generation

In regard to her departure from Girls’ Generation, Jessica claimed that she was left in an unfair situation as she was forced to choose between her new fashion line, which was already in progress, and Girls’ Generation activities by S.M. Entertainment and her members. Meanwhile, S.M. Entertainment responded to her statement by announcing that negotiations regarding Jessica’s new fashion line and Girls’ Generation activities were still in progress when Jessica just went ahead and began her business anyway. Therefore, it became difficult for the team to continue with Jessica as a member. With the addition of her mysterious future husband, Tyler Kwon, fans were confused as to what exactly to believe.

Yoo Byung Eun was the chairman of Chonghaejin Marine, the company that owned the Sewol Ferry, which sank on its way to Incheon in April 2014 causing an alarming number of deaths. Since the occurrence of this incident, Yoo Byung Eun went missing and became Korea’s most-wanted fugitive.

Then, in June 2014, a decomposed body was found in a field in South Jeolla Province. It was later revealed to be the body of Yoo Byung Eun. The body was found with a fractured left index finger. Some claim that Yoo Byung Eun’s finger wasn’t broken when he was alive, but whether or not his finger was fractured before his death has not been revealed.

To add to the bizarre circumstances, the body was found wearing a thick winter parka and underclothes with a bottle of makgeolli (rice wine) and 2 bottles of soju next to it. Yoo Byung Eun was known to follow strict dietary guidelines, eating only organic foods and avoiding alcohol altogether. With the body too decomposed to determine the cause of death, the case remains a mystery to this day.

5. Jeong Da Bin‘s suicide

Jeong Da Bin was found dead by her lover in the restroom on February 10th, 2007. Murder by a family member has been considered as a possible cause of death, but with insufficient evidence, the incident was concluded a suicide case.

The conflict between the actress and her agency was pointed out as the main motive for the incident, but the agency had made a response saying that the issue was being resolved smoothly and there was no cause for her to take such extreme measures. Moreover, fellow celebrities have claimed that they had a trip planned with the actress, which they were looking forward to.
