Wanna One’s Lai Kuanlin Reveals He Was Bullied In School, Gives Advice To Bully Victims

He shared his inspirational story to help the victims of bullying.

Wanna One‘s Lai Kuanlin recently held an impromptu live session with his fans where he began sharing details of his life.

During the video, a fan asked him a question: “What should I do when I get bullied in school?” And Lai Kuanlin answered the question in the most inspirational way by using the lessons he learned through his own experience.

“‘What should I do when I’m being bullied?’ is a very question. Let me tell you about my experience.

This isn’t a secret but I was also bullied in middle school.”

During middle school, he was bullied by his classmates because he happened to be a quiet person who didn’t fit in.

“When I was in middle school, I didn’t talk much and I didn’t get along with my classmates very well. I wasn’t necessarily bullied but I think I was ostracized.”

But he was able to overcome the difficult times by thinking about it in a completely new way. He decided that he shouldn’t hate the bullies for not knowing what’s right but thank them for teaching him what was wrong.

“This is how I pulled through those difficult times. I think of it this way. The bullies are teaching me something – in somewhat of a violent manner.

Even if someone treats me in a violent, wrongful manner, I won’t hate them. I’ll be thankful because they taught me something.

They’ll have a lot to learn once they enter society but I’ve already learned it from them.”

At the end of the day, Lai Kuanlin believes you become stronger by overcoming troubles. His bullying experience allowed him to learn how to better adapt in life.

“Anyways, I learned something from it. The truth behind the survival of the fittest. I was able to adapt well in society thanks to it.

I’m able to adapt in any kind of situation. I can’t talk about it in detail but you can learn from someone who’s good and you can also learn from someone who’s bad.”

And he now smiles as he soars above the bullies as one of the greatest K-Pop idols today!

“I learned that you shouldn’t do what they do. I’m able to talk about this while smiling because I’m thankful.”
