Former EXO Member Tao Reveals What His Life Was Like As A Trainee

Tao originally didn’t want to debut in EXO.

The training process of becoming a K-Pop idol is an extremely difficult one, and it can be an even more stressful experience for foreign trainees. Former EXO member Tao once shared what his trainee experience was like at SM Entertainment. When he first became a trainee, Tao couldn’t help but feel nervous about going to a foreign country.

Tao’s early days of being a trainee were extremely difficult due to his inability to communicate with people.

Being unable to express his thoughts with others took a toll on him.

This caused Tao to work extremely hard on his Korean, as he spent many hours each day trying to get better.

Tao didn’t rest much during his time as a trainee, as he would usually sleep for 5-6 hours a day.

Free time wasn’t a thing for Tao, as he spent the majority of his time just practicing.

Another reason Tao trained so hard was that SM Entertainment selected him to be a member of EXO as soon as he arrived.

Tao went through only a year of training before he debuted as a member of EXO. Although, he felt that he wasn’t ready to debut yet, so he asked SM Entertainment if he could be pulled out of the team, but they refused.
