That’s almost the exact same amount of time it took “DDU-DU-DDU-DU” to achieve the same feat. The June 2018 hit surpassed 1 billion views in one year, four months, and 27 days (515 days).

Now both songs have surpassed this record, BLACKPINK has become the second girl group in history to have multiple music videos with over 1 billion views. The only other girl band to achieve this is American group Fifth Harmony.
And, since both of Fifth Harmony’s music videos with over 1 billion views feature other artists, BLACKPINK is the first and only girl group in the world to achieve this record without any features.
“Kill This Love” also marks the fifth Korean music video to achieve 1 billion views on YouTube. Alongside “DDU-DU-DDU-DU”, it joins BTS‘s “DNA” as well as PSY‘s “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman”. PSY and BLACKPINK are the only Korean acts with multiple “1 billion views” achievements under their belts.
Unsurprisingly, BLINKs are overjoyed to see BLACKPINK hit yet another milestone in their career. Within just 10 minutes, #KTL1BILLION reached #1 on Twitter’s worldwide trends list.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s debut song “BOOMBAYAH” is fast approaching the same milestone. The music video currently has 955 million views, gaining around 1.11 million views per day on average.
Once “BOOMBAYAH” reaches 1 billion views, BLACKPINK will be the first and only K-Pop group to achieve the feat with their debut song, as well as the first and only girl group in the world and Korean act to hit 1 billion views on three music videos.
