On Reddit, one J-Pop fan pointed out that this particular idol group has ties to Soft On Demand, also known as SOD, a Japanese adult video group of companies. Others claimed that Dogenzaka69 is “niche” even within Japan’s underground idol scene. Underground idols belong to indie groups rather than mainstream J-Pop groups like Snow Man and AKB48.
There are, however, some Japanese idols like Dogenzaka69’s members who are also pornstars, which leads to crossover between Japan’s idol and adult video industries.
