The show follows two couples, including the pairing of Shen Wenlang (Ocean Jiang) and Gao Tu (Seeky Li). The two are long term friends despite Gao Tu hiding that he is an omega, or an individual with higher fertility and the ability to have children, regardless of gender.

Through a series of coincidences, Wenlang, who has professed hatred of omegas, and Gao Tu end up having sex, though Gao Tu’s identity remains hidden.

Gao Tu discovers he is pregnant shortly after and ultimately ends up deciding to leave his job as Wenlang’s assistant, with the latter coming close to discovering his status as a pregnant omega in the second to last episode.

In the final episode, Wenlang is told of Gao Tu’s status, who ends up fleeing for three years to escape being forced into an abortion.

The novel the film is based on varies from the series, but picks up with Gao Tu and Wenlang’s story after the three years. However, the series has disappointed many in this aespect.

After a time skip, Wenlang and the child of the main pairing visit a children’s park, where the child runs into another who turns out to be the child that Gao Tu was carrying. Wenlang realizes this and upon seeing Gao Tu runs to him and hugs him.

This is where the story of this pairing ended in the series, leaving many viewers sorely disappointed with the lack of a true reconciliation being shown on screen, including the lack of a kiss throughout the whole show.
