Legendary Girl Group Announces Their Indefinite Hiatus
An iconic girl group has decided to begin they’re calling the “cold sleep” era of their career. After 25 years together, they have decided to go on an indefinite hiatus.

Perfume is a three-member technopop Japanese girl group consisting of Nocchi, Kashiyuka, and A-chan. The group formed in 2000 and made their major label debut in 2005 with the song “Linear Motor Girl.” After their breakthrough single in 2007, “Polyrhythm,” Perfume went on to release nine #1 bestselling albums in a row, becoming one of Japan’s most successful girl groups.

On September 21, Perfume broke the news about their hiatus on their official fan club website, emphasizing that it isn’t the end of Perfume, but rather a way of freezing their career thus far in a “cold sleep” while they recharge, work on their individual careers, and prepare to come back as a “new Perfume”.
The announcement comes after Perfume celebrated their 25-year career with a two-part album, Nebula Romance, and a tour where they performed 23 shows in 11 cities across Japan. Perfume will also be returning for a concert at Tokyo Dome for the first time in five years, on September 22.

It’s unclear how long the “cold sleep” will last, but when Perfume wakes from it, fans will undoubtedly be there waiting to join them on a brand new journey.
