Girl Group Announces Their Disbandment After Only 9 Months, 2 Members Blamed
An idol group’s career is ending less than a year after their debut. The members will be going their separate ways on June 28, 2025.

maumau is a Japanese idol girl group that debuted on September 29, 2024. On May 26, Mimy, the group’s agency, announced the group’s disbandment and explained the rationale behind it. Two of maumau’s five members–Shinonome Uru and Meru.–were kicked out of the group. The agency dismissed Meru. for repeatedly breaching her contract, but they did not specify those violations.

Shinonome Uru’s contract was terminated due to a lack of communication and her failure to show up for scheduled work.

After discussing the matter with the remaining three members, Runya, Tsumigi Hau, and Rinne Namu, Mimy and maumau decided to disband the group. maumau will disband on June 28, after their final show: a concert that will serve as their goodbye to fans, but also Tsumigi Hau’s graduation. She had been planning to graduate from the group before her ex-members were dismissed.
