Homeowner’s Chilling Discovery Leads To A Second, Stranger Mystery
On September 22, a 69-year-old man discovered that the vacant home he owns wasn’t as empty as it should have been.

When he stopped by the home, located in Kagawa, Japan, he opened the fridge and found a pack of udon noodles inside. While there isn’t anything odd about finding udon noodles in Kagawa, nicknamed the “Udon Prefecture,” there is something odd–and unsettling–about finding food you didn’t buy in a house that’s supposed to be unoccupied.

Because of the mystery noodles, the homeowner installed a security camera in his kitchen and patiently waited. After four days, the camera caught a 39-year-old man, a complete stranger, searching the kitchen with the intention of stealing valuables. He left empty-handed, and the homeowner contacted the police, who later arrested the man for breaking into the residence.

While in custody, the 39-year-old, who is unemployed but not homeless, admitted to illegally entering the house. However, his confession left the homeowner with more questions than answers. Though the suspect confessed to breaking in, he didn’t confess to squatting in the house or putting the udon noodles in the fridge.
If he didn’t put them there, who did? The investigation is still ongoing.
