Boy Group Member Suspends His Activities Just Days After Performing

He’ll be taking a break from the stage, for now.

A veteran star has announced his temporary hiatus. The announcement was made through his agency, Starto Entertainment, on May 14.

Masuda Takahisa is a member of NEWS, a three-member Japanese boy group consisting of Koyama Keiichiro, Masuda, and Kato Shigeaki. The 22-year-old group originally had nine members when it debuted under Johnny’s Entertainment in 2003.

Masuda will be suspending his activities due to health concerns, having been told by a doctor that he needs to be hospitalized for about a week to treat his condition. Masuda sought medical attention after he began to experience pain and swelling in his face.


The announcement comes just days after Masua performed with NEWS  at the METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL in Tokyo on May 11. On May 12, he shared a series of photos from the festival on Instagram.
