On May 31, thousands of Zhang fans gathered at a shopping mall in Nanning, Guangxi, China, for an event organized by eyewear brand MOLSION. Zhang attended the event as a brand ambassador. Fans began assembling outside the venue early in the morning, and when the mall opened its doors, the crowd reportedly surged forward in an effort to secure better vantage points before Zhang arrived.

The rush quickly escalated, with the pressure from the crowd allegedly causing the glass entrance doors to break. Shattered glass was left scattered across the entrance area as staff members hurried to manage the situation and clear debris. Despite the apparent safety risks, some attendees continued entering the building as quickly as possible.

Inside the mall, overcrowding remained a concern. Videos showed spectators packed tightly across multiple levels, while escalators were crowded with people attempting to move between floors.

In response to the situation, MOLSION later issued a statement announcing temporary changes to the event schedule. The company said the adjustments were made to comply with safety requirements and help minimize the risk of overcrowding. Attendees were advised not to gather unnecessarily, avoid creating congestion, and stay updated through official announcements.

Zhang was named a brand ambassador for MOLSION in April. Following the announcement, reports indicated that the company generated more than 21 million yuan in sales (approximately $3.1 million USD) on the first day alone.
