A scene from a new drama has drawn backlash.
Last year, a live-action adaptation of the novel My Only Sunshine was announced. My Only Sunshine is a GL (girl love) about an actress seeking to win over another woman, who becomes controlling amid other circumstances surrounding the couple.

Rising actress Sun has spent years trying to win the heart of Rafah, a powerful luxury car executive and the older sister of her best friend. But when Sun’s onscreen chemistry with a rising male co-star sparks viral shipping rumors, Rafah’s buried feelings erupt into jealousy. As scandals, leaked photos, and suspicious sightings begin to swirl, Rafah moves into Sun’s condo to protect and control her. But when Sun starts appearing in places she swears she’s never been, she begins to question everything. The truth is more shocking than any rumor: Sun has a long-lost twin sister. With an ex-lover determined to reclaim Rafah and a leaked clip threatening to destroy Sun’s career, love turns into a battlefield of trust, obsession, and buried secrets.

The show began airing on February 25, 2026, and the third episode was released recently, sparking discussion.
During a scene in this episode, the couple, who are not yet together, have an intimate encounter while Rafah is drunk, and Sun begins to say no. Rafah continues to push for intimacy and sexual contact, as Sun begins crying with a fade to black, implying it continues.
Que cena nojenta… A garota pedindo para parar e a outra continuando mesmo assim. Como um diretor aprova algo assim? Por que tantas produções tailandesas ainda romantizam cenas íntimas sem consentimento? 🤢

Viewers reacted with discomfort, questioning why a scene like this was included in the show.
I honestly have no words for this scene. I have been posting GL's for a while now and a scene has never made me feel uncomfortable as much as this one has. No consent, P' Flint was drunk and it just continued. Its even more messed up knowing its Sun's first time. I have zero… pic.twitter.com/ChusjLp27w

GL directors and authors PLEASE STOP romanticizing non-consensual intimacy.
no more drunk/asleep/forceful kisses, persistent advances or outright 🍇 framed as "passion" or "true love" this genre should show wlw through mutual desire, real consent, slowburn tension and a safe… https://t.co/4bjwLV5tnp

I think we all need to burn every company that thinks rape is romantic and okay to make this kind of shit into a series 🤗 https://t.co/ZIAbUiegaP

The actress that plays Rafah, “Atom” Apichaya Kamnoetsirikun, spoke about the episode, calling her character’s actions a mistake.
How was ep.3 of #myonlysunshinetheseries ? P’flint has done something that’s …. you can say it’s worst. I know, I fell bad about Sun too.
And as myself, who acted as Rafah or P’Flint, I know that having “no consent” is not right and anyone have no rights to do this to whom,… pic.twitter.com/8ZgDarLNUc

In response, viewers criticized the actress, saying that what occurred was more than a “mistake” or human error.
sorry ma'am but it was an actual rape scene (not even "an attempt", it was full on rape) and saying "humans make mistakes" still counts as defending the act. it isn't a "mistake", calling it a mistake is partaking with rape culture. https://t.co/e4OYGac7Ru

"mistakes"… a mistake is when i forget a birthday, a mistake is when i make a typo, sexually assaulting someone is a deliberate crime and can't be written off as a "mistake" it downplays the violence of the crime and intentional and conscious disregard of victim's boundaries https://t.co/iITpP1lGTX

so… everybody’s just woefully ignorant and okay with that? Sexual assault and rape are not simple acts to pass off as “mistakes”. But this statement is literally just sweeping things under the rug in hopes to get people to continue watching the show. No accountability. https://t.co/I4i2dnQnhQ
