Top Boy Group Member Arrested, Concert Cancelled After Marijuana Discovery 

He faces up to five years in prison.

Yuki Nishimiya, known as Micro, a member of the Japanese duo Def Tech, was recently arrested.

On February 2, the Kanto-Shinetsu Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare’s narcotics control department arrested Micro on suspicion of possessing dried cannabis. The cannabis was allegedly discovered during a search at his residence.

He was indicted on Wednesday, February 4, in the morning.

Micro began Def Tech with Shen Brown in 2003, releasing their first album in 2005. Their first self-titled album was the third-best-selling album of 2005, and they remained active until 2007, when they split due to “musical differences.”

The pair reunited in 2010 and were set to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a concert at Nippon Budokan on February 8, 2026. However, the duo’s agency posted a notice on their website, stating that they were working to confirm the facts and that the show had been cancelled.

Japan is known for having some of the strictest cannabis laws in the world, with possession of cannabis carrying a penalty of up to five years imprisonment.
