Singer Confirms Relationship With 21-Years-Younger Boyfriend, His Ex Is Heartbroken

A singer’s agency has confirmed that she is dating and denied rumors that she was a “third party” in her boyfriend’s previous relationship.

Waa Wei is 42-year-old Taiwanese singer-songwriter, radio DJ, and the former lead vocalist of Natural Q, an indie band. She is currently dating Ian Chen, a 21-year-old Taiwanese influencer who previously dated a popular social media star.

Rumors about Waa Wei and Ian’s relationship began after they were photographed holding hands at an exhibition for Japanese artist Yoshimoto Nara.

“Our artiste Waa Wei is currently in a relationship,” her agency said in an official statement. “Both parties were single before they began dating. This is not a secret, and [she] was not hiding it. As for the online speculations, we understand where people are coming from, but Waa Wei was not a third party in anybody’s relationship, and had no intention of hurting anyone.”

The statement seemingly addresses a Threads post that was uploaded and deleted by Ian Chen’s ex-girlfriend, Taiwanese influencer Raewyn. On July 27, she wrote, “Whenever Waa Wei posts Ian on social media, [I see images of] his silhouette, his purple-painted nails, his clothes, his birthday, his first name, and the sunglasses he wears. They stab at my heart again and again.”

She shared photos of her and Ian together, confirming that they had broken up with this caption: “We’ve broken up. He often appears in someone else’s updates now.”

This reportedly led netizens to speculate that Waa Wei had caused the breakup. After deleting her post, Raewyn clarified the situation. “Earlier on, I was not clear on the situation and made a post while feeling emotional,” she explained in her Instagram stories. “Thanks everyone for your concern, please be kind and not affect anyone else.”
