Waa Wei is 42-year-old Taiwanese singer-songwriter and the former lead vocalist of Natural Q, an indie band. On June 28, she was one of the many celebs to walk the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Melody Awards.
Waa Wei won the award for “Best Female Mandarin Singer” for her 2024 album Ordeal By Pearls, but that’s not the only reason why she’s been making headlines. The Shushu/Tong white shorts she wore have been compared to diapers, sparking some fans to demand an apology from Waa Wei’s stylist.
Waa Wei brushed off the backlash by saying, “That’s a brand that I like a lot, and it’s very comfortable. I did look at what netizens said, but I don’t care. They don’t understand the look!”
