Hwarang Finally Makes Ratings Comeback After Hallyu Ban

After a dip in ratings, Hwarang‘s numbers bounced back following the end of the year festivals.

Following a recent dip in ratings due to China’s Korean content ban, Hwarang has come back this week. The drama recorded 13.4% viewership on Monday the 27th, on Tuesday 7.5% for the nation, and 7.8% for Seoul National Capital Area the week of December 26th – January 1st. Ratings for the show have been on the rise overall since the content ban, in part due to the SBS Gayo Daejun, which put Hwarang‘s largest competitor – Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim out of the running.

The show itself has remained interesting, the acting has been superb week after week, and the stakes are becoming higher with every new episode. KBS‘s poor drama numbers from a year ago seem like a distant memory for the network. Hwarang, howeverhas made our list of Must Watch K-Dramas – alongside Goblin and Legend of the Blue Sea.
