8 Famous Western Producers You Didn’t Know Were Writing Songs For K-Pop

LDN Noise have written and produced a number of songs for their partner in the K-pop world, SM Entertainment. They have worked on EXO’s Ex’act  and The Wars albums as well as produced Red Velvet’s “Dumb Dumb”, SHINee’s “View”, and f(x)’s “4 Walls”.


2. The Underdogs

Harvey Mason Jr. and Damon Thomas

While The Underdogs have a lot of experience producing for western artist (think Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake), these two have produced songs for BoA, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, TVXQ, NCT 127, and EXO.

will.i.am and Poet

Yep, that’s right! The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am and their tour-DJ-and-co-producer Poet, have worked with 2NE1. Together they have produced more than 10 tracks together. will.i.am also worked on “ROCKnROLLbaby” with Psy.

Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves, and Ray Charles McCullough II

This four-man group is may be best known for their co-production of Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like,” but they’re also big on the K-pop scene. Their first work was BoA’s song “XYZ” for her 2009 English album. The song was then released as a cut on Girls’ Generation’s 2013 album I Got A Boy. They have also worked on BoA’s “Kiss My Lips”, Super Junior’s “Devil”, and co-wrote “Press Your Number” with Mars for Taemin’s 2016 solo album.


5. Warren G

Warren G is a rapper, songwriter, record producer, and DJ. He is also known as a pioneer of West Coast hip hop. But he was also a producer on BTS’ RM’s solo mixtape.


6. G.O.O.D Music

Record label of Kanye West

This record label teamed up with Highgrnd (a sub-company of YG Entertainment) to produce fourteen different songs for artists such as Lee Hi, Oh Hyuk, and Epik High.


7. Skrillex

Skrillex is a producer, songwriter, DJ, singer, and musician. Most people don’t know that he helped produce 4Minute’s “Hate.”


8. Diplo

Diplo is a DJ, record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive. He has done collaborations with CL and G-Dragon as well as co-producing BIGBANG’s “Knockout.”
