With the release of their chart-topping tracks “Supernova,” “Armageddon,” and “Whiplash” (all in 2024), the group has reached new heights of success, a fact made even more apparent during the recent award season.

At a time when many groups hope for just one major accolade, aespa has collected an astonishing number of grand prizes, known as Daesangs, across various prestigious events. Seven in total, to be exact.

1. The Fact Music Awards (TMA)

On September 8, aespa made history at The Fact Music Awards by securing the night’s highest honor, the “Daesang Award.” They became the first-ever female artist to receive this recognition at the ceremony, setting a groundbreaking precedent. The award also started an impressive streak of Daesang wins aespa would enjoy for the rest of the year-end award season.

2. Korean Grand Music Awards (KGMA)

At the Korean Grand Music Awards, aespa walked away with not one but two Daesangs. The group earned the “Grand Honor’s Choice” and the “Grand Song” awards — the latter for their hit single “Supernova” — further cementing their dominance in the industry.

3. Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA)

The group’s success carried over to the Mnet Asian Music Awards, one of the most prestigious ceremonies in K-pop. “Supernova” was named “Song of the Year,” earning aespa yet another Daesang to add to their impressive list. The girl group was also the most awarded artist of that year’s ceremony, winning a whopping 6 trophies in total.

4. Melon Music Awards (MMA)

Last but not least, the 2024 Melon Music Awards proved to be a particularly memorable night for aespa. Out of seven wins, three were Daesangs, as they swept the categories of “Song of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Artist of the Year.”

Whether you’re a MY or not, it’s easy for most K-Pop fans to agree that aespa achieving this level of recognition in a single year is nothing short of remarkable.
