We see friendships between idols of the same age blossom more often than not. Perhaps this happens more easily due to the comfortable language same-aged friends use in South Korea. However, that’s not to say that the K-Pop industry doesn’t also have some of the cutest age gap idol friendships ever.

These friendships have quickly become ones that fans grow to love the most, as the interactions are incredibly cute and meaningful. Here are five friendships that have defied the usually uptight junior-senior relationships in K-Pop.

1. Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon & Red Velvet’s Yeri

The Girls’ Generation’s main vocalist was born in 1989, making her 34 years old. On the other hand, Red Velvet’s Yeri, the maknae of the group was born in 1999, which makes her 24 years old.

Despite the 10-year age gap, both of the idols have one of the cutest friendships in K-Pop and have gifted us with countless adorable moments.

2. SHINee’s KEY & NCT Dream’s Chenle

The popular SHINee member was born in 1991, meaning KEY is 31 years old this year. Meanwhile, NCT Dream’s main vocalist, Chenle, was born in 2001.

Key and Chenle didn’t allow the 10-year age gap to keep them from becoming close friends. The SHINee star even shared that the two of them have gone out for meals together quite a few timesย โ€” including during their stay in Japan for SMCU in Tokyo.

3. Super Junior’s Donghae & NCT Dream’s Jeno

Super Junior’s Donghae was born in 1986, which makes him 36 years old. On the other hand, Jeno, the NCT Dream rapper, was born in 2000.

Though Jeno is only 22 years old, Donghae seems to have built a strong friendship with his junior. The countless adorable pictures they’ve shared together are the perfect evidence! Donghae even asked Jeno to feature on his single “California Love.”

4. Ladies’ Code Ashley & BLACKPINK’s Rose

The BLACKPINK star shares an unlikely friendship with the Ladies’ Code star Ashleyย โ€” one that fans adore. Even though there are 6 years between them, with Rose being born in 1997 and Ashley in 1991, the K-Pop stars have never been shy about showing off how close they are.

Ashley shared their friendship started after meeting at church, they both clicked immediately and the conversation flowed smoothly. Since then, Ashley and Rose have constantly fed fans with stunning pictures and adorable storiesย โ€” Rose even appeared in Ashley’s vlogs!

5. BTOB Minhyuk & TXT’s Soobin

22-year-old Soobin, born in 2000, was able to become best friends with one of his favorite idols since pre-debut. Though BTOB’s Minhyuk was born in 1990, making him 32 years old, the two share an adorable friendship that fans absolutely love.

Perhaps the friendship started once the idols met each other and realized how identical they look! Minhyuk himself has previously shared that even his family confuses the two idols with each other because of how much they look alike.
