5 Disappointing K-Drama Series That Viewers Stopped Watching In October
When an exciting, new show is announced, K-Drama fans eagerly add it to their watch lists. Unfortunately, some highly anticipated new series (and older ones) fell flat for viewers in October 2025. Here are 5 K-Dramas that viewers couldn’t finish watching.
1. Genie, Make A Wish
Starring Kim Woo Bin and Bae Suzy, this fantasy romance follows a genie who wakes up after a 1000-year slumber to grant three wishes. However, the magical lamp’s owner is no Aladdin; she’s a psychopath. It premiered on October 3.

This series had its share of hype (and controversy) before it even aired, but for some viewers, the all-star cast wasn’t enough to keep them watching. One viewer who dropped the show called it “a car wreck that you can’t stop staring at,” while another thought it was “narratively aimless and random.”

2. My Youth
In JTBC’s My Youth, Song Joong Ki stars as a former child star turned novelist, Sun Woo Hae, who reconnects with his first love after a decade apart. It began airing on September 5.

One viewer quit the show just one episode before the finale. They loved the cast but couldn’t get invested in the main couple’s meandering romance.

3. The Heavenly Idol
The Heavenly Idol is a 2023 series starring Kim Min Kyu, Go Bo Gyeol, and Lee Jang Woo. It follows a powerful high priest from another world who winds up in the body of an idol. The idol is a member of an unpopular boy group, and the high priest must become successful in order to return home.

Unfortunately, some viewers had a hard time sticking with the show. One found the female lead “totally forgettable.” Another only watched the show to look at the male lead.

4. Bon Appétit, Your Majesty
This fantasy romance series premiered on August 23 on tvN and Netflix. It tells the story of a French-trained chef who is suddenly transported back in time to the Joseon era. There, after a mishap or two, she becomes the royal chef for King Lee Heon, a food-obsessed tyrant.

This series, which also made last month’s “disappointing K-Dramas” list, is wildly popular with some viewers, but not all. Some viewers took issue with the pacing and repetition that bogged down the plot.

5. Bad And Crazy
Bad and Crazy is a 2021 K-Drama starring Lee Dong Wook and Wi Ha Joon. Lee plays a corrupt detective who finds himself thrust into chaos when an erratic, justice-seeking entity suddenly shows up in his life.

One viewer who dropped the show didn’t like how the main idea was portrayed; Wi Ha Joon’s character and Lee Dong Wook’s character are actually the same person. Another viewer dropped the show because of its inconsistency.
