Korean Media Picks The 3 K-Pop Artists Who Represent The Future Generation Of Idol-Actors
Over the years, it has become more common for K-Pop idols to go into acting, and many have shone in various K-Dramas and films, despite many netizen’s reservations. From the likes of ASTRO‘s Cha Eunwoo, EXO‘s D.O, Park Hyung Sik, 2PM‘s Taecyeon, and many more, idols have stolen the hearts of K-Drama viewers!
Recently, Korean media outlet Sports DongA had a look at some of the idols in the industry who are shining. Here is a look at the three they picked who represent the future generation of actors.
1. Jinyoung (GOT7)
Even before he debuted in GOT7 in 2014, Jinyoung had experience in acting and shone in several various roles over the years. Whether as a lead or cameo part, he has stolen the hearts of viewers. In particular, Jinyoung has shone recently in the tvN K-Drama The Devil Judge alongside veteran actor Ji Sung.
After choosing not to resign with JYP Entertainment, it seems like Jinyoung has found a home with BH Entertainment, who have allowed him to pursue these ventures. In the second half of the year, Jinyoung is expected to star in the K-Drama Yumi’s Cells, and fans will look forward to seeing him continue to grow.
2. Rowoon (SF9)
Since debuting in 2016 with SF9, Rowoon has caught the attention of fans for his stunning visuals, shocking proportions, and calming voice. Yet, after making his acting debut in School 2017, he quickly became a fan favorite as he showcased his personality, charm, and charisma. Since then, Rowoon has captured the hearts of fans in romantic K-Dramas such as Extraordinary You, to name a few of his roles.
Despite just having a comeback with the group, Rowoon is currently working on the upcoming drama Affection. After winning the “Best New Actor” award in 2019, there is no doubt that he will continue to capture the hearts of fans both on the screen and with his music.
3. Junyoung (U-KISS)
In 2018, U-KISS’s Junyoung made headlines after his stellar performance in the MBC K-Drama Goodbye to Goodbye. Since then, Junyoung has constantly been working to not only showcase his talent on the screen but make his name known for both his music and acting skills. In particular, he has recently gained attention for his portrayal of Kwon Ryok in the idol-drama Imitation.
After his success and increased popularity with fans, Junyoung is set to make his movie debut in the Netflix film Moral Sense. With more eyes on him, there is no doubt that Junyoung will continue to shine and that fans will love watching him grow as an actor.
