Only 3 K-Pop Girl Groups Have Broken Guinness World Records

In the history of K-Pop, only three girl groups have been able to break Guinness World Records. One of those groups went as far as doing it numerous times.

3. NewJeans — 1

On March 28, 2023, NewJeans became the “fastest K-Pop act to reach one billion streams on Spotify.

The group did so with only six songs from their debut mini-album New Jeans.


2. Girls’ Generation — 1

On May 11, 2017, Girls’ Generation became the group with the “most Melon Music Awards won.

The girl group has thirteen registered wins from the Melon Music Awards.

BLACKPINK holds the title for the most Guinness World Records broken by a K-Pop girl group. As a group and individually, they’ve broken eleven records.

  • Fastest solo K-pop artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify (female) — Lisa
  • Most views of a new music video release from a solo artist in twenty-four hours on YouTube — Lisa’s “LALISA”
