The 8 K-Pop Idols That Have Gone Through The Biggest Growth Spurts Before Our Eyes
K-Pop idols typically debut at a young enough age that it’s not uncommon for them to grow a little bit during the length of their career. However, some of them — especially maknaes — go from being the cutest and tiniest member of their group to skyrocketing up and being one of, if not the, tallest! Here are 8 K-Pop idols (not in any particular order) who had the biggest growth spurts right before our eyes.
1. Ni-ki (ENHYPEN)
When Ni-ki participated in I-LAND, he was just 14 years old, and was still this age when he debuted with ENHYPEN in November 2020. During his time on I-LAND, he was measured at 172cm (5’7.5″). Now, however, he’s one of the group’s tallest members around 183cm-185cm (6′-6’1″), meaning he’s had an 11cm-13cm (4.5″-5.5″) growth spurt since then!
2. Jisung (NCT)
All of NCT DREAM was small when they debuted — they were all so young, between the ages of 14 and 17! — and their youngest, Jisung, was just 169cm (5’6.5″) tall. Since then, he’s shot up around 10cm (4″) and stands at about 179cm (5’10.5″), and is among the tallest members in all of NCT as well as the tallest in the NCT DREAM subunit!
3. Chenle (NCT)
Chenle, the second-youngest member of NCT and NCT DREAM, was even shorter than Jisung at debut at just 165cm (5’5″) tall. He stands at about the same height as Jisung now — around 178cm-179cm (5’10”-5’10.5″) — meaning he’s grown about 13cm-14cm (5″-5.5″) since debut!
4. Hueningkai (TXT)
Another maknae on the list, Hueningkai’s exact height as a trainee isn’t known, but he’s stated himself that he’s grown about 20cm (8″) since those days! He’s now listed as 183cm (6′), making him the second-tallest member of TXT after Soobin.
5. BamBam (GOT7)
BamBam was 16 when he debuted with GOT7 in 2014, and though he isn’t the youngest member of the group, he seems to have had the most drastic change in height. He was 170cm (5’7″) when the group debuted, and he now stands at 178cm (5’10”), an 8cm (3″) difference!
6. Haruto (TREASURE)
The three youngest members of TREASURE were all actually measured at the time they started their trainee period at YG Entertainment, and they all went through drastic growth spurts! Haruto was listed as 164cm (5’4.5″) when he became a trainee in January 2017 at the age of 12, and went through an incredible 19cm (7.5″) height increase between now and then, as his height is 183cm (6′) now and he’s the tallest of TREASURE!
7. Jeongwoo (TREASURE)
When Jeongwoo joined YG Entertainment in March 2018 at age 13, he was measured at 170cm (5’7″). He’s now the second-tallest member of TREASURE at 181cm (5’11.5″), giving him an 11cm (4.5″) growth spurt during that time!
8. Junghwan (TREASURE)
Finally, Junghwan was measured at 170cm (5’7″) when he first became a trainee in April 2018 at age 13. The maknae of TREASURE is now listed at 180cm (5’11”), giving him a 10cm (4″) increase in height and making him the third-tallest member of the group!
